FDA Confirms expedited regulatory path for NOVO-111

INNOVOTEX Inc., a preclinical oncology therapeutics company focused on advancing innovative therapies using macrocycle drug conjugates, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed that NOVO-111 is eligible to proceed under the expedited 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway. This designation enables the company to streamline remaining preclinical development requirements and accelerate entry into clinical trials.

The FDA’s confirmation marks a significant milestone for NOVO-111, a novel therapeutic candidate designed to address unmet needs in colorectal cancer and other solid tumors. Leveraging the 505(b)(2) pathway for development work allows INNOVOTEX to reference existing data from previously approved compounds, reducing the scope, cost, and timeline of required preclinical studies while maintaining rigorous safety and efficacy standards.

“This confirmation from the FDA is a pivotal step forward for NOVO-111,” said Jonathan Arambula, CEO of INNOVOTEX. “The ability to utilize the 505(b)(2) pathway significantly enhances our development efficiency, allowing us to advance into the clinic faster and more cost-effectively, without compromising scientific rigor. Ultimately, this brings us closer to delivering a potentially transformative therapy to patients in need.”

Under the 505(b)(2) framework, INNOVOTEX will focus its remaining preclinical efforts on targeted studies necessary to support an Investigational New Drug (IND) application. The company expects this approach to substantially shorten development timelines compared to traditional pathways, positioning NOVO-111 for earlier clinical evaluation.

NOVO-111 is part of INNOVOTEX’s broader pipeline of next-generation therapeutics built on its proprietary platform, which is designed to improve delivery, enhance stability, and increase safety and efficacy.

NOVO-111 is a first-in-class macrocycle–platinum(IV) prodrug therapy — a “precision-engineered” platinum designed to selectively home to tumors and activate oxaliplatin within cancer cells. By harnessing redox-driven tumor targeting, NOVO-111 possesses unique rationally designed features that make it one of a kind.
